 The Prime Minister has written to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Ms J. Jayalalithaa replying to her letters on the Mullaperiyar Dam issue.The text of the Prime Minister's letter is as follows:"I have received your letter of 29th November, 2011 as well as your earlier letter on the Mullaperiyar Dam issue.I have made a note of the points raised by you and also heard the issues raised by a delegation of Ministers from the Government of Kerala. I have pointed out to them that the matter is currently before the Supreme Court Empowered Committee. I believe that nothing should be said or done to create undue alarm among the people. I am sure that, given goodwill on both sides, an amicable and mutually acceptable solution can be found through a process of dialogue and communication. I have accordingly advised the Ministry of Water Resources to arrange an early meeting between the officials of the two sides to sort out outstanding issues and allay genuine concerns.I look forward to you cooperation in this matter."

Asin Thottumkal apparently saved a stray dog on her way to the Chennai airport. The actress, after completing shooting for a commercial in Chennai had to take a flight back to Mumbai and was on her way to Chennai airport when a car ahead of her hit a stray dog on the highway and sped off.

Asin was reportedly moved when she heard the dog yelping in pain and requested her driver to stop the car. The car had run over the leg of the dog. As per a source, Asin was unwilling to leave the dog bleed to death. The actress was fortunately early to the airport and had plenty of time in hand. Asin Thottumkal then took the dog to a vet, got it’s leg bandaged and left the dog in the care of the driver who promised to take care of it until the dog was fine.

Well, Asin has proved that she is not only smart and attractive, but also has a heart of gold. Well done Asin!

Anushka Shetty’s reign as the undisputed queen of Tollywood may soon come to an end. After being challenged by Ileana D’cruz, she has to now face Tamannaah Bhatia.

Though she fought hard and held her own against Ileana (detractors may argue that it was largely the latter’s misfortune), Anushka is now being seriously pressured by Tamannaah, who has grabbed several Telugu movies that recently went on the floors. If buzz is to be believed, the latest in this series is Rebel. Anushka had bagged the Prabhas-starrer and had even begun shooting for it in Malaysia, when she started having differences with director Lawrence. Insiders claim the differences got to be too much and Anushka has quit the project. Lawrence hopes to sign Tamannaah in her stead. We are not surprised that he thought of her. She already has an impressive list of Telugu co-stars – Allu Arjun, Naga Chaitanya, Ram Charan Teja, Jr. NTR and Ram. According to sources, she quit Christianity to marry ‘boyfriend’ Prabhu Deva, with whom she is in love for the past few years. ‘Following this crucial move, an announcement on their wedding is expected anytime,’ they add.

On Sunday morning, Nayanthara took a flight from Kochi, reached Chennai, and drove straight from the airport to Arya Samajam near the Central Railway Station. There she performed various rituals in the presence of pundits and officials of the Samajam.

Later, she was given with a certificate, declaring that she will be a Hindu henceforth. On receiving it, Nayanthara went to the airport and took a flight to Kochi. She didn’t meet Prabhu Deva during this Chennai visit, maintain sources.

After his much talked about relationship with Nayanthara, Prabhu Deva divorced his wife Ramalath aka Latha with mutual consent. He agreed to bear the expenses of his two sons, besides giving them assets in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
