If grapevine is to be believed Vidya has reportedly made it clear she will sign Pyar Ke Side Effects 2 , an offer she has been made opposite Farhan Akhtar, if she is paid a price higher than the film's hero.

"Vidya is right now riding the best phase of her career. After Ishqiya and No One Killed Jessica, The Dirty Picture is proof that she is among the few heroines who can drive box-office prospects of a film. Also, she is a versatile actress. It's hardly surprising if she wants to command a higher price than the hero in a film that will ride on her glamour and talent in a big way", an industry source is reported to have told India Today.

Actress Vidya Balan, who will be seen in an alluring and sensuous avatar as Silk Smitha in The Dirty Picture, says she does not fear being tagged as a "porn star".

Vidya will be playing the character of the southern sex symbol Vijaylakshmi, better known as Silk Smitha, in Milan Luthria's film.

Vijaylakshmi, a small town girl, with her dance numbers and bold performances reached the ultimate symbol of sensuality in Southern cinema. Film critics have often referred to her as a "soft porn" actress.

However Vidya said, "I think I am an actor playing a character Silk Smitha. I don't think there is a possibility of that tag being attached to me. I just hope it adds another shade to me as an actor."

Produced by Ekta Kapoor,The Dirty Picture, stars Naseeruddin Shah, Emraan Hashmi and Tusshar Kapoor in pivotal roles.

The film, chronicling the journey of the yesteryear seductress and her early demise, is slated to release on Smitha's birthday, December 2.

A still from the movie. 'The Dirty Picture'

Stunning Vidhya Balan

New Delhi, Aug 26 (IANS) Vidya Balan has never exposed as much - but in the first look of 'The Dirty Picture', inspired by late southern sex icon Silk Smitha's life, she has painted a perfect picture in an itsy-bitsy red blouse matched with luscious red lipstick.
The actress stands undaunted even as three men - Naseeruddin Shah, Tusshar Kapoor and Emraan Hashmi - get too close for comfort in the poster, which was released on social networking sites Friday.
'The poster and the logo of the film has a very 1980s feel to it because the movie is set in that period. We will be launching the first trailer of 'The Dirty Picture' in Mumbai August 30,' Girish Johar, head of acquisition and distribution, Balaji Motion Pictures, told IANS over the phone from Mumbai.
The film is set to release Dec 2, the birth anniversary of Silk Smitha, who became a symbol of sensuality after featuring in bold and semi-nude roles. Later, financial crises and personal problems took a toll on her life.
It is this moving story that has been captured in this latest offering by Ekta Kapoor.
In tune with the period that the movie is set in, the Balaji unit has chosen to launch the first trailer at Galaxy, a single screen theatre in Mumbai.
'It is because the movie has the 1980s charm of Indian cinema, we chose not to go to any five star hotel or a multiplex to launch the first teaser. The theatre will be set up in a way that reminds people of good old times,' said Johar.

After Sonakshi Sinha, it's actress Vidya Balan who's facing the consequences of being a celeb in the time of the internet.
Last December, morphed pictures of Sonakshi Sinha in a bikini for a magazine cover had floated online. But, Sonakshi was quick to point out and clarified immediately on her social networking page that those were not her pictures, and that she was shocked at the stories around the fake photo shoot.
And now Vidya's facing the same situation. A few days ago, she was shocked to learn that a morphed picture of hers in a black bikini for a magazine cover had been posted online and was doing the rounds. The photo has been morphed on the cover of a famous men's magazine for the 'Annual 2011' edition. But when we contacted the actress, she was completely shocked and denied shooting for the mag. She is now taking legal action against those responsible for this. She told us, "First Sonakshi and then me... When I heard there was a picture of me in a bikini on a magazine cover, I thought someone was being mistaken for me because I haven't done a shoot like this. But I was shocked when I saw it. I will be taking proper legal action against the people who are responsible for this."
